The Indian Hills Community College Small Business Development Center is now completing its 23rd year of operation. One special aspect of the Indian Hills 10 county service area is a diverse rural population that is often under-employed. SBDC services are delivered equitably to both urban and rural areas.
The center has been involved in helping to establish the Southeastern Community College and operating the Rural Assistance Program for six years, which was funded by the Iowa Department of Economic development.
The center worked with the Area XV Regional Planning Commission to establish a revolving loan fund, which has operated for fourteen years. This fund has been of tremendous value for low-income entrepreneurs who have difficulty obtaining financing for business start-ups.
