Iowa Bankers Association Introduces new Community Betterment Awards

Jul 24, 2009

The Iowa Bankers Association (IBA) is pleased to announce new awards that will honor the efforts of Iowa banks. The IBA Community Betterment Awards will be presented to member banks that demonstrate a high level of commitment to their local community by making a difference in the areas of community service and betterment project initiatives. Projects occurring any time during 2008 through June 30, 2009, are eligible.  Submit your entries by August 10, 2009.

The new awards were formally the Community Development and Public Relations Awards that were presented annually at the IBA Bank Marketing Conference. IBA President and CEO John Sorensen said that recognizing the new Community Betterment Award winners during the Annual Convention will place a renewed focus on banks’ community involvement.

“Iowa banks are making a difference in their local communities every day,” Sorensen said. “The IBA’s Community Betterment Awards will highlight the innovative community service projects, financial education efforts and economic development activities that banks bring to their communities in every corner of Iowa.”

Categories for entry are financial education, community service and economic development.  All entries will be displayed and awards presented in each category during the 123rd IBA Annual Convention, Sept. 20-22, 2009 at the Polk County Convention Complex in Des Moines. Winners will be notified prior to Convention and may be featured in the 2010 Making an Impact Brochure.
